The Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA), in collaboration with several partners, including the Hindu University of America, TAG TV, and INDICA, is set to host the First Dharma Literary Festival 2024.
The VHPA is an organization that aims to preserve and promote the Hindu religion. The event will take place on Aug.24, from 10 AM to 6 PM Central at the Wojcik Conference Center, Harper College, Palatine, Illinois.
The festival aims to address concerns over the portrayal of the ‘Hindu narrative’, which, according to VHPA, for the past thousand years has been largely shaped by outsiders. Many Hindus have found these depictions to be deeply offensive and unrepresentative of their cultural heritage. In response, a growing number of writers and media personalities are working to recover and rebuild a more ‘accurate and proud civilizational narrative’.
List of dignitaries include retired scientist Dr Jai Bansal, Kalyan Viswanathan, president of Hindu University of America, author Avatans Kumar, Aditi Banerjee, and Deepa Bhaskaran Salem.
Speakers like Kushal Mehra, host of the podcast Carvaka, Sham Sharma, Avatans Kumar, Tahir Gora, Deepa Bhaskaran Salem, Aditi Banerjee, Arif Ajakia, Jai Bansal, Tufail Chaturvedi, Kalyan Viswanathan will also be present at the event. Tahir Gora's Bilatakalluf Show will be performed on stage with Tufail Chaturvedi & Arif Ajakia.
The event is open to everyone, with free registration required to attend. The organization said that donations are welcomed to help cover event expenses and attendees will be provided with a light lunch, along with tea and coffee throughout the day.
